fertility check for men?

I just recently got married in October. I'm still on my parents insurance plan until my work insurance kicks in. unfortunately my husband does not have insurance. we never use condoms nor the pull out method for over one year yet, i've never gotten pregnant. we didn't keep track of ovulation or my temperature. I recently saw my obgyn since we've decided to actually start trying (meaning trying and doing everything) and she said i was in good shape for babies. my question is since my husband doesnt have insurance how can he get check for a low sperm count or any fertility problems? will it be very expensive without insurance?

thanks for your help.

There is a sperm count test you can buy online to do at home. The brand is Micra. They're about $80. You can get it on amazon.com and a few other places. My husband and I are planning on getting it soon, just to see what his sperm count is like. You could try that first since he doesn't have insurance.
Hope this helps!

If you haven't gotten pregnant WITHOUT contraceptives in place in a year, his count IS LOW. (Think of how many people who DO use contraceptives accidentally get pregnant). You don't need a test, use your insurance to get you some fertility helpers.

Well, insurance doesn't typically cover anything fertility related anyways, just to let you know. A semen analysis for one of the best reproductive medicine clinics in my region (actually, I believe they are known through the entire United States for being one of the best) is only about $75 - cash, up front. My hsg that I will be going through to make sure my tubes aren't blocked is going to be about $600, again, cash, up front. so...if you're gonna go through fertility testing and such, be prepared for the cost! Good luck and baby dust!
